Intuition ◆ Insight ◆ Innovation ◆ Impact
Melissa Porterfield, MEd
I created Silk Mountain to help leaders develop and maintain positive, sustainable company cultures to attract, engage, and retain top talent. My services have evolved over time to meet the needs of the leaders I work with to include executive coaching, leadership development, and meeting/workshop facilitation, as well as professional speaking.
With over 20 years of senior HR leadership experience, I am well equipped to help you take your own leadership to the next level, using the PQ (Positive Intelligence) assessment as a springboard.
I can do the same with your leadership team.
I worked directly with Kim Chestney, best-selling author of Radical Intuition, to earn my Professional Intuition Certificate. As an intuitive myself, coaching with me is a bit different as I show you exactly how to tap into and use your own intuition to drive growth and profitability in your business through better decision-making, gaining new insights, and increased innovation. (This does not get you off the hook for doing your homework and using your critical thinking skills. Sorry about that!)
I’m also a contributing author to The Everyday Woman’s Guide to Doing What You Love, coming soon! My chapter is titled “Your Intuition Is Your Superpower”.

"Thank goodness for Melissa. Anyone can take the MBTI and anyone can read the myriad of books and blogs on what it is and how to use it, but nothing can beat having a professional there to walk you through it and make sense of the “so what”. Melissa brings years of experience to the MBTI dialogue and her value is in application to your specific business environment. Her professional style helps you self-discover how MBTI plays out using your real life examples to assist individuals and companies with those break through moments which solidify how and where personality types show up during regular business days. MBTI is a powerful business tool, but it doesn’t achieve its full effectiveness without Melissa as the translator."
“Melissa takes a very straightforward approach to solving issues and gives support and strong background information for her responses. She presents information in a thought-out and professional manner. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Melissa going forward.”
“Melissa has a clear, organized and focused approach to solving HR issues for start-ups while incorporating education on the employee life cycle, and how to plan at each stage for growth and retention. She helped us visualize and compose our company’s values and mission to create a sustainable culture. Her focus and attitude on company culture and how it is intertwined with HR has been eye-opening. She has made this start-up much stronger!”
"Melissa is a thoughtful executive with a deep understanding of how to develop high-performance teams and organizations. I had the opportunity to work with her on a team MBTI assessment and found her method to be very useful and engaging. By the end of the exercise, the group walked away with an excellent understanding of their strengths, complementary skill sets as well as blind spots to look out for. She’s an excellent listener, thorough in her work and prompt in her responses. I highly recommend her to leaders that are looking to take their teams to the next level."
“Melissa listens and shifts gears as needed to accomplish the task at hand. On an interpersonal level, she is very effective in presenting ideas and concepts to the executive team. I really enjoyed our collaboration, teamwork, and appreciated her owning the project to completion ."
“Melissa knows how to fit in at each level of the organization, making herself approachable and respected. We were wowed by Melissa’s unwavering appreciation for people and the role she plays. She is a thought-leader and counsel.”
